
The School Rules
Please note that this list is not exhaustive but should cover most major regulations.

Treat your school, fellow students, staff and faculty with the utmost respect. Decorum and good behaviour should always be maintained

Be mindful of the school traditions and motto, and aim to demonstrate them in your daily lives

Magic should only be used by students in relation to schoolwork, or approved extracurricular activities

Students may cast spells appropriate to their studies in classrooms and study areas

Magic that is not related to studies may only be cast with the permission and supervision of a faculty member or prefect

Duelling may only be performed during duelling clubs that are under the direct supervision of a faculty member or prefect

Students always have the right to use magic to defend themselves, or to respond to an emergency

Students must attend all classes, meals and meetings that they are scheduled for. Only written permission from a Master or the School Nurse can excuse absenteeism.

No student may be in the corridors between midnight and 6am without a hall pass, except to move directly to and from the nearest bathroom.

No student may be in the corridors during classes without a hall pass

Clothing must be suitable for a learning environment, and display no offensive or inflammatory slogans

Students must always wear their name badges

Students are not permitted to leave the school grounds without the permission of the Headmistress or Deputy Headmaster

Students are forbidden from faculty areas. This includes the staff lounge and staff offices, unless with the escort or written permission of a staff or faculty member

Prefects may enter faculty areas if investigating another student violating this rule

Students may not enter the common rooms of houses other than their own.

The library is considered a privilege to use, not a right, and misuse of the facilities may result in a ban from this area

Books may not be removed from the library without the express permission of the Librarian

During meals, students should remain at their house tables

Alcohol and tobacco are strictly prohibited on the school grounds
Discipline
Breaking of rules, of which the above are not exhaustive, can be met with disciplinary action. While staff and faculty may choose to overlook minor infractions, this is entirely at the staff/faculty discretion.
The most common form of discipline is the deduction of house points. Other forms of discipline include detention, removal of privileges, suspension and expulsion.

OOC Note: In regards to the school rule regarding alcohol and tobacco. There will be OOC areas designated where people can drink and smoke OOC if they wish to do so without IC risk. Otherwise, players are welcome to try and do these things IC at the risk of being caught, if they would prefer!
