The Norms with whom we share our world remain blissfully unaware of our presence, save for a few exceptions to the rule. It is against international law to intentionally or without due cause cause a Norm to become aware of the presence of Magi, magical creatures or magical items, due to the unanimous decision by the IMP that this is the best way that both societies can live together peacefully.

Norms are almost wholly unaware of the presence of magic within the world, and those that experience it tend to rationalise it in other ways so as to convince themselves of it's lack of existence. They are largely blind to most magical creatures (due to their inability to see magic), appear to be naturally repelled from Points of Power, and accidental slips of magic by Magi tend to be reasoned away as "tricks of the light" and "not enough sleep".

There are a few high-profile Norms who are aware of our presence:

- The Secretary-General of the United Nations

- The President of the European Council

- The Secretary-General of NATO

USE OF NORM TECHNOLOGY

While Norms may have no magical capabilities, we do not deny that their inventive nature has led them to some truly amazing discoveries. Therefore, at The Flamel Academy, we fully encourage our students and staff to embrace Norm culture and inventions. We regularly utilise the Internet for research and social purposes, and have seen our entire department stop using quills and begin using ballpoint and fountain-ink pens, for example.
