Magic Casting
Due to the infusion of the blood of magical beings with humans, the creation of Magi who are able to cast spells has become more common in the world. However, it appears that while the addition of human blood has allowed for a higher degree of control over magical energies, it also requires greater focus to achieve, as it seems no Magi is capable of innate casting of spells. As such, the use of magic-infused crystals has been determined to be the most effective way of allowing a Magi to cast magic, and these crystals can be used to create various casting items. These are referred to as ArcaneFoci.
TYPES OF ARCANE FOCI
The most common type a wand, where infused crystals are either layered into the core of the wand, protruding from the end of the wood, or powdered and added to resin, which is then poured into carved designs on the wands surface. Whatever the method, so long as crystals are added, it appears to be highly effective. Wands are light-weight, easy to carry and conceal from Norms, and very precise in their casting movements.
A more traditional way of casting which is still popular today is the use of a Crystal Ball, between 3cm and 10cm in diameter. Any smaller and they are not able to handle the large amounts of energy passing through them, but much larger and the amount of focus is lost. These solid crystal balls are tradtionally clear quartz, but any precious or semi-precious stone can work just as effectively. Some people prefer a large crystal that they feel can fully harness their abilities, while others prefer to keep it as small as possible, sometimes wearing them as jewellery. So long as the crystal can be held in the hand, it can still be utilised.
Spell Books are becoming more common in recent years. By carving designs into the surface of a spell book and filling them with powdered infused crystals, the book appears to work much like any other arcane foci, though it has been noted that this seems to be most effective if the spell book has been created by it's user.

The least common method is a staff or stave. Due to the size of these foci, they are considered the weakest choice in terms of power and focus, as even placing a large crystal on top of the stave does not seem to increase it's effectiveness. They are considered a very old and primal choice, and some still opt to use them, particularly older Magi who find dual use in them as both a casting focus and a walking aid.

INNATE CASTING
There are certain creatures who are capable of casting spells through their own innate power rather than needing to speak magical words or hold a focus. This innate casting is part of the being's magical nature, some who possess control over it's use and others who do not. Innate Casting should not be mistaken or confused with innate strengths, as some creatures have natural abilities that are not a form of spell casting.
