Magi Laws
THE IMMUTABLE LAWS
Below are the Immutable Laws, as agreed upon by the International Magi Parliament. These laws are all punishable by imprisonment upon a guilty verdict, with the duration of incarceration varying on a case-by-case basis. Each country has it's own Magi Containment, which are locations with strong magic-banishing charms placed upon them to prevent magic being cast within it's walls.
- Use of a Forbidden Spell
- Murder
- Manslaughter
- Forcible violation of the mind of a Magi via magic
- Raising and controlling the Unwilling Dead
- Tampering with the Soul of another sentient being
- Attempting or succeeding to alter the past via Chronomancy
- Making deals with demons
- Contacting (or attempting to contact) outerplanar entities
- Intentionally, or through lack of reasonable effort, causing magic to become known to Norms
THE FORBIDDEN SPELLS
- Mortal Wound
Immediately inflicts a life-threatening Mortal Wound on a target.
- Control Person
Allows the caster complete control over an individual's thoughts and actions.
- Siphon Life
Allows the caster to take part of another person's life essence and add it to their own.

As can be expected of a legal system, there are many other laws that cover a wide range of subjects, but these tend not to feature hugely in day-to-day life. If in doubt, there are various individuals with legal knowledge that you can query on such subjects. House Elves also seem to be very well-versed in Magi Laws as well, though no-one is quite sure why they care so much...

OOC: Breaking any of these laws above is one of the few ways your character can be forcibly removed from play. Should your character be found guilty of any of these acts, they would be placed under arrest, put under trial off-screen, and imprisoned in a Magi Containment facility. Depending on the severity of the crime, you may be forced to permanently retire your character.
If you do not wish to risk losing your character... do not break the law! This is one method of losing a character that we will not be particularly lenient on, and choosing the play loose with the law is a decision you make at your own risk.
